Injury Bug Hits Hard on Opening WeekendAugust 31, 2008

Big injuries to big name players was the drawback to a great opening weekend for college football.

Jeremy Maclin of Missouri went down with a serious ankle injury versus Illinois.

Beanie Wells was carted off the field after injuring his foot versus Youngstown State.

Knowshon Moreno the starting tailback at Georgia pulled up with a possible hamstring injury on a touchdown run Saturday as well.

More injury woes for Georgia as starting defensive tackle Jeff Owens was lost for the season with a torn ACL.

Percy Harvin is still struggling with a heel problem and is probable for next weekend’s game at Miami. The speedy wide receiver was held out of the Gators opening game this weekend against Hawaii.

Wells and Maclin’s x-rays were negative and more information will be released this week as far as the severity of their injuries.

Stay Safe,
