Rich but WorthlessMay 7, 2010

****check the photo…”team captain” really?
Do you have a cousin that simply won’t get their shit together? Their spoiled rotten, and taken care of by mommy and daddy, but mommy and daddy can barely take care of themselves. You cuss him out to his face until you create new cuss words, but if someone else says anything bad about him, you’re the first one to his defense.
This is how I felt about Jamarcus Russell. I don’t think you’ll find a Raiders fan that will ride for his team at midnight in Kansas City wearing all black and silver screaming “fuck the Chiefs” while Raider waking like me. I ride, die, and disrespect teams for my Raiders. I knew Jamarcus Russell sucked, but he was my quarterback. I had to defend him. Sure, I cursed him out several times, but I never went public with my frustrations because it was personal team business.
As you may know, Jamarcus Russell was released today by the Oakland Raiders. I speak for Silver and Black nation when I say get the *&$# off my team. Russell is the main reason why the rookie salary cap needs to be instated and weight limits need to be enforced on QBs. In three years, Russell has earned 39 million dollars from the Raiders not because of his performance but because he was the top pick in the 2007 NFL draft. Hey may be rich, but he’s worthless. He was fined several times last season for being overweight. Think of the money the Raiders could have saved if there was a rookie salary cap.
Take a look at what Russell was guaranteed being the 1st overall pick in 2007, $32M guaranteed. The top QB selected in 2008 was Matt Ryan and he was guaranteed $34.75M, and last year Matthew Stafford was the top QB selected and had $41.7M guaranteed. I’m not hating on the players, go on ahead and make your money homie, but the system is flawed. Rookies getting that Manning and Brady money that haven’t even proven themselves at the NFL level. Russell got all of his 32M with another 7M to waive in our faces.
Russell stands 6’6 and several times last season weighed in at 300lbs. This past weekend at minicamp he was rocking a svelte 290lbs. GTFOH, 290lbs QB? That’s like finding out the Epic Beard man is your kids 3rd grade teacher. The most important position in the NFL is QB. No one is going to pay good money to see a 300lb. QB. The NFL needs to protect the shield and mandate a QB weight limit. If you’ve over 250 you cannot play QB. Shit don’t make no damn sense, but this kind of behavior went on for three years from Russell. He fell asleep in meetings numerous times, partied it up in Vegas every chance he got, and went 7-18 as a starter. Sounds like a hard worker to me.
Yeah, Russell and all his yes men supporters (I mean who else would believe in him?) can say, so what he got cut, he’s still rich. Ok, cool, but right after you tell me he’s rich, I’ll tell you he’s worthless. Ever heard of Mike Williams, Charles Rogers, Ryan Leaf? Cats that seemingly pissed away their careers in the city swimming pool with the blue chemical surrounding them and they still don’t give a fuck because their grandfather owns the pool and their big brother is the lifeguard. These cats have had their asses kissed their whole entire lives, leaving them with a feeling of entitlement, and the worst thing to happen to them was to becoming millionaires because once that happen all their bad habits, selfish ways, and bad work ethics paid off.
I hope Russell can resurrect his career. I’m sure someone will give him one more shot, for what, I have no clue. A strong arm doesn’t mean potential. In all fairness as much as he is a clear bust, the organization he played for and owner he worked for is a bust and has been since 2003. Nevertheless, a sucky quarterback is a sucky quarterback and that’s what Russell is right now. Three years and $39M later Russell is the rich kid who inherited daddy’s money and didn’t do jack shit but get genetically lucky. You just hope he invests well because no one in their right mind is going to invest in him because he’s worthless.
That’s all I got,
