Monday Morning Cornerback: Week 1 (Tuesday edition)September 7, 2010

Back like cooked crack baby! Monday Morning Cornerback is here again for the 2010 football season. We are Peter King’s less attention spanned having, shorter, dreadlocked negro cousin who likes to talk about cool jerseys, spats, juke moves and shit. But will make your eyebrows do the “Rock” when we break down TCU‘s 4-2-5 defense or Buffalo Bills K-Gun offense in the ’90s.
College Football
Boise State was accepted into big Boy college football 1996 when they joined the Big West conference. It took you guys long enough to graduate with your undergrad degree. 9 years later to be exact with a win over Oklahoma in the 2006 Fiesta Bowl. Since then you’ve been toiling around in grad school and now your time as come. This year is now or never. If you don’t get your Masters in Football now, it’s going to be a while before you actually get your Master’s degree into the football elite. You’ll get your doctorate of course once you win a national championship, but go undefeated this year and you’ll have a Master’s degree.
You’re off to a good start with a great win over Virginia Tech. I called it because I predicted you guys to win. Keep up the good work. I can’t wait to see you guys defend your Thesis at the end of the year. FYI – the new Nike Pro Combat jerseys are a good look, I don’t care what Colin Cowherd says.
Damn Oregon…did you really have to hang 72 points on New Mexico without your starting running back? Be easy!
OU….please, please, please…fix your secondary. Chrsitian Ponder and the FSU Seminoles are not Utah State. Sure Utah State is an experienced and better than advertised team. But they are Utah State athletes and can’t hold the jockstrap of an FSU athlete. Fix it quick please, because 2:30pm on Saturday is gonna be a long day if you don’t get it together.
Damn…I feel really bad for Vidal Hazelton. Like really bad.
Jacksonville State. Thank you for making the first weekend of the year exciting. WIthout you Saturday afternoon would have been a huge boring epic failure.
Good job North Carolina for playing your hearts out and coming from behind and almost beating LSU. Bad job John Blake. Anytime someone is a great recruiter you always have to wonder what makes them so good.
High School
Did you see the Glenville(OH) vs. Dwyer(FL) game yesterday. OMG. I cannot believe it. Here is the series of plays that make you scratch your head. First of all there was a touchdown catch that was called out of bounds when the receivers knee was clearly down inbounds. Second, Dwyer was on the goaline and ran a QB sneak that came up short. The clock never started and it was essentially a free play for Dwyer. Then the worst call of 2010 perhaps all of football occurred on the next play. The clock was winding down, the end of the game was seconds away. Dwyer QB sneaks into the end zone or did he? We’ll I wish I had a replay to show you, but take my word for it..he got in the endzone. The refs run up to the middle of the pile. They make no signals, lol, they don’t do anything. They just stand there looking confused…the time has run out on the clock and Glenville is jumping up and down because they know they got away with one. And from the look on one of the refs faces, he just said…”fuck it”.
NFL
Darrelle Revis finally signed! Thank you Jesus for taking the wheel. Revis won point blank. He got more money for a shorter term. I’d rather have the 4 year 46 million with 32 million guaranteed than the 10 year 162 million that he wanted. If he continues to ball out he’ll be primed for another blockbuster deal in 4 years. My only fear is that anytime a player holdsout he always gets hurt. So please let the football gods be with Revis so that he stays injury free this season. Oh yeah, now that you got that money homie…go get a haircut or at least warn us that you’re gonna start growing your hair out for dreads or braids.
Pete Carroll has balls. You mean to tell me you’re going to cut T.J. Houshmandzadeh and start Mike Williams. I like Pete, so I hope that this doesn’t backfire.
Matt Leinhart. If he left school earlier he would have most likely been the top pick ahead of Alex Smith or could be the Packers QB after Aaron Rodgers. If he leaves earlier he has more money, because he was drafted in the 10th slot the next year. It’s all about being in the right team with the right system. Ah, who am I kidding. The kid threw softballs, felt entitled, and wasn’t a leader. bottom line, BUST.
That’s all I got,
