NFL Network Top 100 Players: 50-41October 8, 2010
The fourth installment of the NFL Network’s 100 Greatest NFL Players list aired Thursday night with players 50 – 41. The more and more I watch this series the more and more I love it. No quips about this installment. I feel like everyone is where they should be. The next list of players 40 – 31 will air on the NFL Network October 14th at 9pm EST.
50. Terry Bradshaw presented by Dennis Miller
One of the first QBs to call his own plays throughout his career. Never had great numbers, just a 70.9 QB rating throughout his career and an ugly 212 -210 tds to interceptions, but all he did was win! Four-time Super Bowl champion and two-time Super Bowl MVP.
49. Mike Haynes presented by Matt Millen
Stone cold lock down corner. Nine time Pro Bowler, longest arms ever, try getting off his quick jam.
48. Red Grange presented by Steve Hirdt
I’m not even gonna fake the funk like I know this guy inside and out. But from what I hear from Al Bundy he was Jesus, and Steve Hirdt sings his praises as well. His nickname was the Galloping Ghost so he had to be nice right? Flagship member of the College and Pro Football Hall of Fame. Also is the man that essentially MADE the NFL what it is today. Not sure what else I need to tell you, but he deserves to be on this list, probably a little higher too.
47. Ray Nitschke presented by Jerry Kramer
The fact that he was able to get ahold of Gale Sayers in this picture and have em on his ass begging for mercy says enough. But if you needed more, he’s in the Hall of Fame and in the a member of the 1960′s All-Decade team.
46. Roger Staubach presented by Chuck Klosterman
Two-time Super Bowl Champion, 1985 Hall of Fame inductee, and kinda got that whole America’s team ball rolling.
45. Tony Gonzalez presented by Trent Green
I mean, he’s only a 10x Pro Bowler and the all-time leader in receptions for a Tight End with 1000+.
44. Mel Blount presented by Bob Trumpy
Hall of Fame member(is anyone on this list not a HOF guy or destined to be there?) 5x Pro Bowler, Super Bowl Champion, and the reason you can’t touch receivers anymore after five yards.
43. Allen Page presented by Steve Rushin
Page was a beast with nine Pro-Bowls and he was the first defensive player to win MVP, and only one defensive guy has won it since, Lawrence Taylor.
42. John Mackey presented by Ernie Accorsi
Catch passes from Johnny U for a living, not a bad gig. Even better when you’re a baller! Super Bowl Champion and the second pure tight end inducted into the Hall of Fame after Mike Ditka.
41. Rod Woodson presented by Boomer Esiason
As much I want to say Deion Sanders is #1 corner of all-time and Rod is #2, I gotta go with #1a and #1b and don’t even have to guts to pick who’s who. I mean his career numbers are better than Deion’s and the same case I made for Charles Woodson being a better cornerback than Revis because of his versatility, I must be fair and apply to Deion and Rod.
Gah lee, 11x Pro-Bowler Rod, chill out homie. All-time leader with 12 picks returned for tds and 1,483 interception return yards on 71 picks.
