Pedigree vs. PinnacleNovember 21, 2010
They are quarterback poster children. One has the lineage. The other has a chip on one shoulder and a super model wife on the other. Both have rings, but there’s a clear difference from one hand rocking three and the other rocking one.
You already know who we talking about…Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. Linked together ever since Brady took the Pats to the Super Bowl in 2001 and Bill Belichick took over Peyton Manning’s brain until he nabbed it back in 2006.
The comparisons of the two last to this day. It reminds me of Emmitt vs. Barry back in the day. Everyone says that if Barry had Emmitt’s offensive line then he’d be past awesome sniffing at Jesus’ heels in terms of greatness as a RB. We can play the what if game all we want….but…ah fuck it let’s play…
What if Peyton played for the Pats and Brady played for the Colts? What if Peyton had Belichick as his coach his whole career? What if Brady had been a first round pick and Peyton a late round pick? Ah..the what if game is fun, kinda…makes you think at least.
Most people are going to say Manning is a better pure passer and makes everyone around him better, but hell Brady was doing the same thing and didn’t have a number one receiver until after he had won three Super Bowls.
When you look at the numbers and although they are only a year apart in age, Peyton virtually has five years(63 games to be exact) on Brady having come into the league three years before him and Brady riding the pine as a rookie and suffering a season ending injury in the first game of the 2008 season. Peyton has a better completion percentage at 64.8% to Brady’s 63.4%. Peyton also has a higher QB rating at 95.1 to Brady’s 93.7. I think Tom is cool on all that because he leads the head to battle at 7-4 and has 3 Super Bowl rings to Peyton’s 1.
We all know you’d rather be in Brady’s shoes, look at his wife and rings…but if you had to pick one of the two to start your franchise, who are you rolling with?
That’s all I got,
