Who’s going to come in…2nd?December 9, 2010
I’m not sure which all-star weekend it was, but Larry Bird came to the 3-point shootout and confidently uttered “who’s playing for second, because I’m winning first place.” Now, I paraphrased that but you get the gist.
This is exactly what Cam Newton should say to Andrew Luck, Kellen Moore, and LaMichael James this week as soon as they get to NYC. We all know Cam is going to win the award going away. Yeah, you have a few jerktards saying that Cam doesn’t have enough integrity to win, blah blah. Yeah…I’d like to see their faces when Cam wins the award.
Either way…since we all know who is going to win….let’s talk about who is going to come in 2nd.
Kellen Moore Boise St. QB – The Bronco QB is smaller than I thought. I had no clue he was as small as he was, but the kid is super smart and slings it all over the field with ease. He reminds me of a more athletic and cerebral Danny Wuerffel. He’s thrown for 3500 plus yards and the kid has 33 tds and only 5 picks. If it were not for the Nevada loss, all those Cam haters might very well be giving their votes for Moore for him to win it all.
LaMichael James Oregon RB – the Oregon tailback has been crushing would be Pac-10 champs dreams once a week this season(aside from the 1st week). The kids has the speed and quicks to get Barry Sanders’ juke of approval. He has over 1600 yards this year when he split enough of his carries with Kenjon Barner to not be a 2,000 yard rusher. The most telling stat is his 6.0 yards per carry.
Andrew Luck Stanford QB – Umm he completes 70% of his passes and has a 4 to 1 td to pick ratio. Do I really need to go on? 28 tds to only 7 picks to be specific about that ratio. It’d prolly be higher but he plays in a pro-style offense. Stanford is an average team without Luck…and a BCS team with him.
The winner of 2nd place should clearly be Andrew Luck. Kellen Moore is cool, but look at Boise State’s schedule. LaMichael is nice but who’s to say if Kenjon Barner wasn’t the lead back he wouldn’t do the same damage? I don’t know who Luck’s backup is, but I know he’s not starting for a reason. Don’t forget some say Luck is the BEST QB PROSPECT EVER coming out of college. He also has wheels and will truck a sucka.
