With the New Orleans Saints gearing up to go marching in pursuit of a successful title defense, the road has seemingly become troubled at the end of the season. In week 17 of the regular season, rookie RB Chris Ivory was placed on the IR ending his season after injuring his left foot. Another blow hit the Saints as they also placed there other RB, Pierre Thomas, on the IR with an injured left ankle. With two crucial blows to the run game, the ever so favorite Saints now are, dare I say “Tainted” to win.
But on the other hand, this could be a great moment for the Saints and those that support the Who Dat Nation. With the electric Reggie Bush back and healthy from his injury early this season with him breaking his leg, the stage is set for Bush to prove his belonging to the city and to the team as he’s has had a rocky season thus far.
Since his rookie season, Bush has been scrutinized for being drafted second overall in the 2006 NFL Draft and over paid as a “third down back” in the NFL. The major criticisms with the former ex-Heisman Trophy award winner is that he does not know how to run between the tackles, running east and west instead of north and south to pick up yards.
With Bush set to making 8 million for the 2010 season and 11.8 million for the 2011 season, the stage is more than set for Bush to put up or shut up. New Orleans has a lot vested in the gadget back. It’s about time to put all the critics and non-believers to bed and show why you are dynamic and a new breed of athlete in the NFL. All eyes will be on New Orleans as they open their manuscripts, getting ready to write another book, A Tale of Two Trophies as told by Reggie Bush.
