This weekend the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears collide once again this season for the third time for the rights to go to Super Bowl XLV hosted in Jerry’s World. The series this year has been split 1-1 with the Bears winning the first game at home in week 3 on MNF 20-17 and the Packers winning the at home with the final being 10-7. Needless to say, the numbers don’t lie when looking at these scores and the game could have went either way in both previous matchups.
There is no love loss between the two teams and this Sunday will continue the “Love to Hate” relationship. But inside this game will brew a mini matchup that more than likely predict the result of the game. You see, outside the numbers will be lined up one Johnny Knox and across from him will be one Charles Woodson. This will be an epic battle, with all the underlying stories within; youth vs. experience, speed vs. awareness, new blood vs. old blood!
You see Johnny Knox has had a great sophomore year for Chicago, leading the Bears with 51 receptions and 960 yards receiving. (Shoutout to the Channelview Alumni #Eastside Houston, TX). But that’s not to go without mention Chuck Woodson who beasted out 9 INTs last year and followed that up with 2 INTs and 13 passes deflected this year. Woodson has become the “roamer” of the Green Bay defense as he lines up any and everywhere wreaking havoc and recording a team high 76 tackles on the year. Now, you might be saying, Woodson only has two picks on the year and Knox (who has been quoted as actually being FASTER than WR/Return God Devin Hester, in my Dwight Howard voice “Fast Don’t Lie,”) that’s a Knox win right? Wrong! You can’t just take that speed to the bank and cash it simply because of the erratic arm of Bears QB Jay Culter. With the Packers D finishing 2nd in the league in sacks, the pressure will be on and we all know what pressure does to pipes. Thus far, Cutler has tossed 3 INTs to the Pack D. With that said, we are back to neutral, and the plot thickens.
*Rubs Hands* Oh! this is going to be a good one. Sunday afternoon, Green Bay vs. Chicago, Woodson vs. Knox. I’m predicting that outside the numbers is where this game is going to be won. Get your popcorn ready, it’s going to be just that good. Oh and for the record, I’m going with Knox for the W because “Fast Don’t Lie!” Who are you picking??
