National Signing Day was February 4th. Jadeveon Clowney signing day is February 14th. Why did he sign ten days later? He couldn’t make up his mind? No…I think it was made up already but don’t quote me. No, this nigga wanted to wait until his birthday to decide. So that means, two of the three schools that held scholarships for him would be screwed. Why? Most schools signed all their prospects on February 4th meaning that there were more than likely no good quality players left either. The good, the schools will have one extra scholly for next year, but the bad is that they could have used that this year.

How in the world do you we go off on Lebron for the way he made his decision, but this kid gets a pass? I want him to succeed. I don’t have a hating bone in my body, but I’m on the side of right always. This wasn’t right or wrong, but it was doing the moonwalk in the gray area and grabbing it’s balls. Did anyone…I mean anyone not turn a side eye?

He’s a high schooler. Has yet to set foot on a college campus. Nigga hasn’t even played a down yet? But he’s holding schools hostage ten days after signing day with his own press conference covered by ESPN. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, here’s a thought. A man/woman will only get away with what you let him/her get away with. Three schools…Bama, Clemson, and South Carolina let Clowney get away with this because he was the #1 recruit in all the land. If the was the #101 recruit all three of those schools would have said…take it or leave it, we’ve got other options. But nope, those three schools let Clowney have his way with them and two are screwed and one is happy.

I see a trend of more and more top recruits doing things “their” way. I wouldn’t be surprised if National Signing Day lost it’s luster in the next five years with more and more kids declaring when they see fit to garner all the attention.

On the one hand, I can say….Clowney is in high school he’s going to make selfish and bad decisions like these. But at the same time….people really don’t change, meaning if he’s doing selfish things like this now he’ll do them in the future.

Either way, I didn’t like it. I sound mad old school right now, I know. I just didn’t like it. I mean South Carolina got the signature and services of the best player in the country but what else did they get…ego, selfishness…laziness? Who knows. Clowney got three schools to wait on him, a press conference on ESPN….but he also got a bullseye tattoo on his chest, back and KNEES done by the good folk at City of Ink courtesy of his own selfish ego.
