Growing up in Oklahoma everyone was a “West coast” fan and stood proudly behind Tupac. I was a fan of Pac, but for whatever reason I always had this fascination with the East coast. Whether it was their Timbalands, New York Undercover, or the fact that I was just being difficult and not going with the flow, I was an East Coast dude stuck in Oklahoma.
Notorious B.I.G. played a huge role in that influence in my life. I like words as you can see (6Magazine publisher, freelance copywriter for R/GA on Nike, copywriter at Translation, etc.) No one was more of a wordsmith then Christopher Wallace. About every six months, the trending topic #camronsays or #camronquotes comes up and I have fun with it as I am a huge Cam fan. Cam has a decent catalogue of music, but Biggie only has two albums and he’d mop the floor with Cam and anyone else if there were ever a #Biggiesays or #Biggiequotes trending topic.
In my eyes, he was the greatest rapper ever. Anytime I’m at work and I need a new headline for McDonald’s, State Farm, Nike, Brooklyn NETS, etc. I listen to either The Most Interesting Man in the World Campaign or a Biggie CD. His flow was awesome, but they way he mixed words and letters together was perfect cocktail that left you drunk off his music, never gave you a hangover and kept you coming back for more.
