Lockout SmockoutMarch 3, 2011
So, I haven’t posted much about the NFL lockout. Since were less than 24 hours away from the “lockout”, I figured I’d write something. It’s very hard though, because I don’t care about the lockout.
Not to make light of Hurricane Katrina and those affected by it, but I do not fear an NFL lockout. I’m like the many Katrina victims that really didn’t think Katrina was going to be “the big one”. Now, if a lockout does happen and extends into September, we have replacement players, or no NFL season at all, etc…..the United States would be devastated. I’d be a huge believer and the disaster wouldn’t be anywhere close to Katrina in the grand scheme of things, but on a superficial and financial level it’d be huge.
I just don’t worry about this thing, because I know that the NFL season will be played the second week of September like has been for the past couple of years. That’s without replacement players also.
I think people should relax. Football is the most popular sport in this country. Once the owners and players realize how much money they will both be losing, both of the sides will come together.
Think of tonight’s imposing deadline as the first alarm. I hate to say it, but I hate waking up(I feel like a lazy unsuccessful bum admitting that). So what do most people do who hate to wake up? They set their alarm 15 sometimes 30 minutes ahead of when they actually have to be up, because they know how much of a chore it is to get out of bed. So if the deadline is March 4 and the NFL doesn’t need to be at work until September 8th, let’s just set the last alarm for July 31st.
The players, owners, and most importantly the fans have plenty of more time to hit the snooze button and sleep until July 31st.
