If you’re like me you have been glued to the television and websites for the past few weeks ready to hear the mind blowing stats from the NFL combine and pro days taking place. The NFL draft hopefuls are applying for their new careers. Usually around this time football fans and gamers across the world are amped to hear who ran what in the 40 yard dash, whose stock is raising and falling and what that is going to calculate into in next year’s Madden 2012 football game. Yes, yes that is the usual feeling about this time but 2011 is different.

Instead of making mock drafts based on the results of the combine, rivaling combine analyst Todd McShay and Mel Kiper, we are posted with a lingering question. Is there really going to be a lockout? More importantly, IS THERE REALLY NOT GOING TO BE NFL FOOTBALL IN 2011-2012? Yes, it’s sad but true that this is highly likely. There has been a seven day extension but if nothing happens, a lockout is among us.

If you you’re like me, you don’t know how to feel about this. I mean think of this as breakup with your best friends’ girlfriend. Let me explain. So this isn’t going to DIRECTLY affect you, but it’s going to have an effect on what you are going to be doing this fall. It’s hard to grasp today, because the impending doom is months away. You can see both sides of the story so you aren’t willing to take sides. Your thinking is that it will just resolve itself. But in the back of your mind you are ponder, “What if they really do break up?”

Their relationship (the NFL) brought the best out of everybody, giving you a place to hang out, laugh and cheer. But if they break up, then what are you going to do? Because the owners (the girlfriend) are cool, but not as cool as when they are with you best friend (the players).

So what do you do? You do what any selfish person does; you make sure this doesn’t happen for the sake of Sunday and Monday night. For the love of Madden and OMG don’t forget Fantasy Football, these two need to get it together.

Listening to each side ranting and raving that they don’t need the other side, which only is making us all suffer. What do you do? Well it’s simple, you wait, cross your fingers, and realize this has nothing to do with you, because it really doesn’t. Yet, it really does, and that’s why you are torn. What a sad and stressful time for football fans.
