5/30 in a Spring game?!?!April 21, 2011
There has been lots of Tyler Bray talk in the last few days after he went 5 – 30 in the Tennessee spring game. Tennessee fans (my father was the biggest Vol fan in history) need to keep in mind that Tyler was not working with starters but rather a mix of first, second, and third teamers that put him into some precarious match ups with his WR’s going against better CB’s on the other side. That being said you still don’t ever want your QB to go 5 for 30, even at the free throw line.
The good news is that earlier this spring the young qb had a strong second scrimmage, throwing for 258 yards, four touchdowns and an interception on 17-for-30 passing. Bray, however, in his football social life is seemingly ready to embrace the bad boy qb image in the SEC see: Cam Newton and Ryan Mallett. Bray is also well known for the “throat slash” against UNC or going “loco” with a gesture pointing to his head with both fingers and making circular motions on both sides.
You can attach all the negativity on this kid you want to with your probably stale conservative outlook on college football. But I love it. To see a kid that is out there giving his all, not being afraid to show his confidence is pretty fun to watch. His team feeds off of that type of stuff when it gets into crunch time. I think that he is going to be an elite quarterback in the SEC for a long time to come. Bray is 6’6 with a live arm, but still throws a very catchable ball. The only other quarterback to have more 400 yard games last year was Arkansas QB Ryan Mallett. I believe that Bray is in the mold of a true gunslinger, but he does bring a nice pocket presence and good mobility to the table.
The young Vol gunslinger has a swag to him that I believe will get him through the rocky parts of navigating through a tough SEC schedule. Furthermore, having Da’Rick Rogers, an elite talent in his own right with a young core of offensive line and skill position players — means to me that at some point when they gel, they are going to be nasty. I believe that Derek Dooley will build something similar to what his father built at Georgia, a perennial powerhouse. The cornerstone of this young team will be Bray, so relax and get ready for a good time because its about to get 51/50 in the SEC East and if you don’t know what that is ask Tyler or google it.

These days, I went with the beach front front with my children. I discovered a sea shell and gave it to my four 12 months outdated daughter and stated “You can listen to the ocean should you place this on your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside of and it pinched her ear. She by no means desires to go again! LoL I understand this is often entirely off theme but I needed to notify anyone!
