Russell Wilson has been on the market for about three weeks now. He’s been taking visits at various schools. If you don’t know the deal, Wilson was given an ultimatum by N.C. State head coach Tom O’brien to decide between football and baseball. Wilson has been playing pro baseball in the Colorado Rockies farm system since the Spring. O’brien didn’t want to feel hostage waiting on Wilson to make a decision, so he gave Wilson his walking papers. O’brien firmly believes in backup Mike Glennon to do just as good or an even better job than Wilson.
But….Wilson graduated school in four years and redshirted his first year so he has a year of eligibility left. If Wilson does play football, there’s a clause in his baseball contract stating that he’ll have to return a large portion of the $250,000 signing bonus that he received. Why the hell Wilson is even entertaining playing one more year of football is beyond me, but here are the top ten schools for Wilson.
1. Auburn – He recently took a visit there. Cam Newton is gone. None of Auburn’s current QB’s impressed this Spring.
2. Kansas State – Anytime KSU has had a QB in Bill Snyder’s system they’ve been a problem.
3. South Carolina – They have all the pieces to win a championship but Stephen Garcia is tripping.
4. UCLA – They need all the help they can get and Rick Neuheisel has alwas been good with QBs.
5. USF - B.J. Daniels is just inconsistent. Skip Holtz runs a manageable system that would suit WIlson well.
6. Colorado – They’re going to Pac-12. It’s a fresh start for everyone involved. Tyler Hansen is good, but not a difference maker. With Wilson the Buffs are a 7-4 team vs. 5-6 team.
7. Washington – Steve Sarkisian is putting together a nice program. Wilson is a good fit for their system.
8. LSU – Richard Jefferson has sucked for three years, point blank bottom line. The tigers would be contneders with decent QB on their squad.
9. Ohio State – Terrelle Pryor is out five games. Russell Wilson is better than Terrelle Pryor.
10. Penn State – Not settled at QB although they have two good young players. Wilson for a year is better than any options they have right now.
