I got into a semi-Twitter war yesterday. I’m a proud Oklahoma Sooner alum. I witnessed my Sooners get thrashed 55-19 in the 2005 Orange Bowl which was also the BCS championship game as well. Who demolished us….the USC Trojans with Reggie Bush, Matt Leinhart, LenDale White, and many more stars on that team. Now, the Sooners had our fare share of players go on to play in the NFL from that team, but USC was just too much. In my heart of hearts, I think there was one play that changed the entire momentum of the game, but we lost bottom line.

But…Mr. Reggie Bush was declared ineligible by the NCAA a few months back, and the BCS committee has followed suit and said that since Bush was ineligible they are going to vacate the Trojans National title. So it never happened in their eyes? Naw….I remember that ass whipping and won’t ever forget it. Ever.

My beef on Twitter was with a guy that says since Bush was ineligible the Trojans aren’t the champions. Technically this is true, but come on, you saw the game. We got our asses kicked. Now, had Reggie Bush or any of the other impact players been found guilty of using performance enhancing drugs, then I’d say the Sooner Nation has a beef. But he wasn’t, he took money. So what, and who really cares? That money didn’t make Bush run faster did it? Naw, I don’t think so.

I love my Sooners to death but who’s to say that they’re weren’t any OU players who had also taken money? Granted, it’s a mute point because they didn’t get caught, but you see what I”m saying. Bush taking money didn’t uneven the playing field.

No matter how much money was given to anyone on either team…the playing field was even. It was between the two best teams in the country and the better team won. You can take their trophies and rings, but not their or anyone else’s memories.
