I’m fairly young and so are my parents…kind of. They’re not in nursing home yet and I don’t know how I’m going to deal with that reality when it bangs on my door. The purpose of a nursing home is to take care of your parents because you don’t have the time and they cannot take care of themselves. There needs to be a retirement home for NFL owners — Al Davis needs to go. He cannot properly run the team any longer.
Joe Paterno’s time in Penn State is winding down and he’s more of a figure head than he is head coach. Smart move by Joe Pa relinquishing his power to someone more competent. If Al Davis only had the wisdom of Joe Pa the Raiders might still be a respectable franchise. Instead, Crazy man Al is still wheeling and dealing which means the Raiders and not competing and losing.
I get onto the Raiders because I’ve been a fan since Bo Jackson was doing his thing for the Silver and Black. I’ve seen the ups and downs. Did I say ups plural? Let me take that back, I mean up and plenty of downs.
Out of the 32 teams who voted in favor of the new CBA deal, only one team abstained and didn’t vote…..The Raiders. Funny, the the worst franchise is football wants to play rebel. Here is their statement also,
“We have profound philosophical differences on a number of issues — both of a football and economic nature. We have consistently expressed our views on these matters to the League. We voted in the manner we believe best for football and with the courage of our convictions,” said Oakland Raiders chief executive Amy Trask.
….this says a lot about the franchise and why they are losing.
The issue bothering me the most is that they are letting Nnamdi Asomugha become a free agent. Now, I know this happened back in January, but as the lockout has ended and free agents will be signed on Friday, I can’t help but be pissed off at this realization. Nnamdi is gone. The best player on the team is fucking leaving.
Asomugha’s contract is being voided, because Asomugha did not reach certain incentives this season. In order for the Raiders to have an option for the 2011 season, Asomugha would have had to have played in more defensive plays than in 2009, or improve on his interception, sack or fumble recovery numbers from 2009. A clause in that same contract prevents the Raiders from using the franchise tag on him. Even though the rest of the contract is voided, placing the franchise tag on him isn’t.
I just can’t seem to wrap my head around why such a stupid clause would be placed in his contract. It was clearly an insurance policy for the Raiders in case Nnamdi didn’t perform, and one that is going to bite them in the ass. I’ll be a Raider fan for life….I guess I’ll die bitter.
