Goodbye To The SuperFreak: Randy Moss RetiresAugust 1, 2011

After 13 years in the league one of the receivers you love to hate has decided to retire. Randy Moss burst onto the NFL scene in spectacular fashion in 1998. His greatness has been downplayed due to some of his off the field antics but they could never overshadow the talent who Moss’ed so many cornerbacks that everyone knows what getting Moss’ed means. I remember 1998 after my beloved Cowboys chose Greg Ellis over Randy Moss and the way he punished the ever loving crap out of every Cowboy corner and safety they lined up against him. The fact that a decade later he was just as dominant on the regular season undefeated Patriots is a tribute to the longevity of his reign as a premier if not the premier wide receiver in the league. Randy Moss was awesome in the effortless manner he dominated and he captured the imagination of every football fan with his talent. While he fell short of being better than Jerry Rice the fact that it was even a conversation is proof positive of how great he was.
