I remember when Randy Moss came on the scene at the University of Marshall and took over the NFL two years later. I was a young impressionable lad, so it should be understandable that I’m still a bit shaken up by his abrupt retirement. I was thinking about Randy and how everyone says he didn’t play hard, he quit, etc.

Some of those claims are true, and he did to himself. He wasn’t lazy, he lulled you to sleep. Go half speed on a few routes to setup the DB and blow by him when it’s time. Often times, Randy just got bored…I mean did anyone really challenge him? Wouldn’t you get bored if you were double teamed every single play? Also, if he wasn’t playing hard…how did he manage to not to get hurt. Injury prone and Randy Moss are about as far apart of Peyton Manning and blazing speed. I’m defending Randy, but at the end of the day I know that we didn’t see Randy Moss’ full potential. I’m fine with that, the rest of you need to get over it.

Notice how he pulls up 20 meters ahead and he still sets a world record and destroys everyone else. He didn’t give full effort and he still dominated. Isn’t domination all that matters at the end of the day? Did Randy not dominate?

I’m fine with Randy’s career. I enjoyed all of it, the good, the bad, and the exiles. But, let’s just think…what if Randy gave 100% effort like Bolt did in the 2009 World Championships in Berlin when he smashed his own world record a year later.

Jerry Rice needs to thank Randy he didn’t run through the tape.
