Mississippi State will upset LSU tonightSeptember 15, 2011
Third ranked, LSU, strolls into Starkville, Mississippi tonight for a showdown with 25th ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs. The Bulldogs are 1-1 after a loss last week at Auburn ending with Miss St. quarterback, Chris Relf, getting stopped at the goalline on the last play of the game.
I think this game will go against popular opinion and fall in the Bulldogs favor. The Tigers have not shown the ability to pass the ball as good as Auburn, and I think that the Cowbells will provide a significant home advantage for MSU. Although LSU has won 11 straight in the series dating back to 1999, I love the Bulldogs blocking schemes in the run game. Miss St. head coach, Dan Mullen, and company do a good job of calling plays that give excellent angles for lineman to block setting up Relf to orchestrate the powerful Bulldog running game. MSU has rushed for 642 yards already in the first two games of the year. LSU does show up only giving up 45.5 yard a game on the ground, but I still think the Dogs will give them fits trying to stop the spread option attack.
If MSU can cut down on the mistakes from Auburn and capitalize on any LSU mistakes, I give them an excellent chance of roughing up LSU and shocking the power structure of college football. I will say this, you can never (AND I MEAN NEVER EVER) count out the MAD HATTER in a close game so if your going to beat LSU you better punch them right in the mouth and I think MSU is more than equipped to do so. This is a must win for the dogs already dropping a game in the SEC West and they get the job done 31-21 versus a stagnant and lethargic LSU offense.
