Sportsvertising: A Tale of Two SevensOctober 13, 2011
Earlier this season, before the USC Trojans went to Tempe, Arizona to face the Arizona State Sun Devils, USC quarterback Matt Barkley made some noise.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, he was quoted as saying, Vontaze Burfict(the player pointing) was a “dirty player”. Barkley also stated, “His switch is always on, and it’s not a good switch.”
Barkley and Burfict go way back. They played against each other in high school while Bakley played for Mater Dei and Burfict played for Corona Centennial. The both attended college in the Pac-12 and have faced each other for the past three years.
Burfict who is the best linebacker in the country didn’t need any added motivation, but that’s just what he got from Barkley and he used it to make 5 tackles, 1 tackle for loss and even intercept a Barkley pass.
