I’ve heard it several times with Tim Tebow. “I can’t explain how he does it, but he just wins.” No, you can explain how Tim Tebow does it. It’s not rocket science…hell it’s not even pre-algebra. It’s simple: lack of information and ill advised aborted missions.

I love road trips. Abso-freaking-lutely love them. But we all have had that homeboy who will not take his car around the corner without getting nervous. The famous, “naw cuz/dogg/amigo/bro/dude I can’t drive my car all the way out there, it won’t make it.

Why won’t it make it? The car is probably a P.O.S., it my have engine problems, tire issues…but the car won’t make it. The bottom line is that the car won’t make it because their is something or many things wrong with it.

Tim Tebow is your homeboy’s car that won’t make it around the corner. It’ll get to the gas station like a champion, but don’t take that thing across state lines and act surprised when it’s broken down at night on the side of the highway. Tim Tebow is your short term answer, but not long term.

Why isn’t he long term? Why won’t he make it around the corner? He can’t throw!

But Richard!!! He’s 4-1, he’s got a better record than Michael Vick! (Blank stare)…so?!? I called out two reasons for Tebow’s success: lack of information and ill advised aborted missions.

The Washington Redskins started the season 3-0. The Buffalo Bills started the season 4-1 and beat the New England Patriots and beat the Philadelphia Eagles. The Redskins are now 3-6, yeah, a six game losing streak. Over the last four games, the Bills went 1-3. Hell, one more for the road, the 2009 Denver Broncos went 6-0 and finished the season 2-6. It’s called short term success. Why do they have this success? Lack of information. Teams haven’t cracked the code yet on how to defeat these teams yet. Tebow has only played five games this season, there is not enough film on him or this new mid-season offense to defeat him.

Ill advised aborted missions also known as the prevent defense have also helped Tebow this season. The Dolphins lost to the Broncos in the last minute of the game because they switched to the prevent defense. Last night, the New York Jets lost to the Broncos because for the final drive they switched to a prevent defense. The Jets stopped Tim Tebow last night. They ran a base 3-4 defense and held Tebow in check until the final drive when they went with a prevent defense. It’s simple…not rocket science, not even pre-algebra.

Vince Young has a winning record in the NFL. I bet none of you would want him as your starting quarterback though. Hell, you wouldn’t trust him as far as you could throw him. If he was a car you wouldn’t depend on him to get across the country on a ten hour road trip without breaking down on you.

Root for Tim Tebow now. It’s great. He’s inspiring, it’s an emotional high. But don’t take him around the block or on any road trips….you’ll get stranded on the side of the road waiting for Triple A.
