6 Thoughts: No one wants to watch the Big East in the BCS this yearDecember 8, 2011
Big East football sucks. There is no other way to put it. I tried. Here are my 6 Thoughts on why no one wants to watch them in a BCS game this year.
1. The Big East winner, West Virginia, is ranked #23 in the BCS and AP poll. They are also ranked #22 in the Coaches poll. Shouldn’t a BCS team at least be ranked in the Top 12 in the country? I know that isn’t always the case, but it should be.
2. The conference hasn’t been the same since Miami and VA Tech left the conference after the 2003 season. Rich Rodriguez tried to keep it together and was king for a while at West Virginia but after he left it’s been all down hill for the Big Least.
3. Who are the athletes? No more DeAngelo Halls, Sean Taylors, Pat Whites, Noel Devines, Matt Ryans….where are they? Give me a superstar or somebody to watch.
4. They’ve been blown out of the past three BCS bowl games they’ve been in. 2008 – VA Tech 20 – Cincy 7, 2009 – Florida 51 – Cincy 20(and Cincy went 12-0 and thought they should play in the national championship…thank God they didn’t.) 2010 – Oklahoma 48 – UConn 20
5. The smaller schools show up…the Big East doesn’t. I’ve seen Boise, TCU, and Utah all win BCS games when the Big Least fails to represent as an Automatic Qualifying conference.
6. As I stated earlier, WVU is #23 in the BCS….I’d rather watch Arkansas or Oregon play instead of West Virginia. Yes, neither of those teams won their conference but they are better teams, higher ranked, and better watches than any Big East team.
- random thought….I really wanted Louisville to win the conference and represent the Big Least in the BCS. Head coach,Charlie Strong, and true freshman quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater, could bring this conference back to prominience. I really hope they do.
