Super Saiyan: Randy “Duke” JohnsonDecember 10, 2011
Duke Johnson went Super Saiyan last night. Johnson helped rally his team from a 20-0 deficit to a 35-27 win over the Palmetto Tigers in a Class 5A state semifinal game. Johnson a Miami Norland senior and University of Miami commitment rushed for 375 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns on 27 carries. This was just 44 yards short of the Florida record of 419. The record is held by current San Francisco 49er Frank Gore.
This absurd performance helped the Vikings get back to the state championship game for the second year in a row. Last yer, Norland made it to its first state championship game since 2002 but the Vikings dropped a shootout loss 44-34 to Tampa Jefferson. Norland (14-0) plays in the Class 5A state title game next Friday at The Citrus Bowl in Orlando at 1 p.m. against Crawfordville Wakulla (12-2).
Johnson was very impressive this summer at the Nike 7on tournament Portland, Oregon so these type of numbers are not surprising. University of Miami fans are foaming at the mouth to get this kid in white and orange after a monster performance like this. Here are some videos and look out for this kid the future.
