Why the spread offense hell don’t the Rams have a QB coachDecember 3, 2011
Sam Bradford’s sophomore slump is as easy to notice as the similarity of the hairlines on Carl Winslow and Donovan McNabb.
We can make the excuse that Bradford has no one to throw the ball to and that his offensive line isn’t great, but shit great quarterbacks figure it out.
I’m not a Josh McDaniels fan. He let his ego get in the way as Denver Broncos head coach and set that franchise back further than crack cocaine set back African-Americans in the 80s. So, I was ready to go right in on McDaniels, since he is the St. Louis Rams’ offensive coordinator. I mean, Sam can’t have a good rookie year as he did last year and be playing this bad all on his own. It has to be his new offensive coordinator, McDaniels. Look at how Sam was on the rise with last year’s offensive coordinator and current Cleveland Browns head coach, Pat Shurmur.
I did some digging and found this article on SB Nation explaining that the Rams didn’t have a quarterbacks coach. How the hell do you not have a quarterbacks coach? It’s the most important position on the field. You have a young quarterback and he has no position coach?
The blame has to be placed on Rams head coach Steve Spagnulo, but blame also has to be placed on Josh McDaniels. Sure, McDaniels served dual duty as QB coach and offensive coordinator in New England…but shit, Tom Brady was the quarterback, a two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback at that. Brady really didn’t need a quarterbacks coach. Bradford is a second year quarterback with a bad offensive line and no weapons on the outside. He NEEDS a full-time dedicated QB coach.
Back to Spagnulo…he brought in McDaniels to be offensive coordinator, but he kept all of the position coaches that were there last year with Shurmur. Not sure if McDaniels was salty about that or not. The QB coach last year was Dick Curl, who was 71 years old and decided to retire at the end of the season.
This was just a bad decision by Spagnulo and McDaniels thinking that a young quarterback didn’t need a true position coach.
That’s all I got,
