6Magazine’s 2012 NFL Previews: Miami DolphinsAugust 8, 2012

Last season

The Dolphins were in the hunt for the Andrew Luck Sweepstakes the first half of the season and then….they decided to start winning games. The nerve of them! The team finished 6-10 and lost the Andrew Luck sweepstakes but won the Ryan Tannehill consolation prize.

2012 Offense

New coaches means a new offense. Former Packers and Texas A&M head coach, Mike Sherman is the offensive coordinator and has brought his Aggie QB, Ryan Tannehill with him. Tannehill is in a battle with last year’s QB, Matt Moore and incumbent David Garrad. The Dolphins line is pretty good, being anchored by Jake Long and Mike Pouncey. Their WR corps took a hit with Brandon Marshall being traded. They have brought in Chad Johnson so we’ll see if he has anything left in the tank and act like last season didn’t happen for him. The good side is that Reggie Bush is back off of his first 1,000 yard season of his career last year. If the QB play can be consistent and Reggie runs like he did last year, the Fins will be straight.

2012 Defense

Cameron Wake and Jared Odrick are very good defensive ends. Their linebackers are okay with Karlos Dansby as their “big name” guy. Their corners, Vontae Davis and Sean Smith could be great, they just have to want it.

Outlook

No playoffs for the Dolphins, but no losing record either. I say they go 8-8.

That’s all I got,
