Last season
The team was 7-6 and it was worst Gators season since 1987. It was just a season of change, new coach, new offense, new defense and new true freshmen QBs…the Gators were doomed from the start.
2012 Offense
This is really a crap shoot. Last year, all three QBs were inconsistent. John Brantley, who is now gone, didn’t have much excuse for his poor play, but Jeff Driskel and Jacoby Brissett were both true freshman. The players have to get used to another new offense with last year’s offensive coordinator, Charlie Weis, moving on to head coach Kansas. So….you’re going to have already inexperienced QBs learning a new offense….that doesn’t sound to promising. Hopefully WR, Andre DeBose can come into his own lighten the load for the QBs.
2012 Defense
Every player in Gators two deep front seven was an ESPNU #150 player. The talent is there, they just need to bring it together. This will be their second year in the 3-4 and I expect to see a huge improvement from this defense.
Outlook
The Gators are still going to struggle, but I give them an 8-4 season.
