Monday Morning Cornerback – Week 8October 22, 2012
Here are my quick hits and jukes from this past weekend’s football action.
College Football
Alabama vs. Tennessee
My argument that Bama hasn’t played anyone is fading. Tennessee isn’t great, but they have a good QB and dope WRs and essentially shut them down.
South Carolina vs. Florida
I still don’t believe in Florida’s offense, but their defense is scary. It seems as if South Carolina is pulling an 2006 Cal Bears right now.
Oregon vs. Arizona State
Goodness is Oregon that good or have they just not played anyone this year yet?
Kansas State vs. West Virginia
I didn’t believe in the Wildcats until this weekend. They went into Morgantown and jumped the Mountaineers like Gunplay at the BET awards.
BYU vs. Notre Dame
Good work by Notre Dame being able to get past this upset special. We’ll see how good they really are this weekend when they face Oklahoma.
LSU vs. Texas A&M
A&M is proving that they can actually play in the SEC. I’m beyond impressed. LSU has virtually no offense though and barely got by because they took advantage of a freshman QB.
Utah vs. Oregon State
Oregon State looked sloppy vs Utah. It seemed as if they were looking ahead to their matchup vs Washington, not sure why because Washington isn’t that good.
Kansas vs. Oklahoma
OU looked good in their scrimmage vs. KU this past weekend. That’s for that 1988 basketball championship!
Colorado vs. USC
Word to my man, Scooby Axson at SI.com for this fact, but Colorado had 25 first downs to USC’s 22 and still lost the game 50 – 6. I have only one explanation for this and that’s that the rapture has to be coming.
Georgia vs. Kentucky
Georgia reminds me of the New York Giants. They have all the talent in the world, but they sleep walk through the middle of the season. The only thing is that the Giants can lose 7 games and still win the Super Bowl, the Dawgs can’t.
Middle Tennessee State vs. Mississippi State
Miss State is creeping up on us like that everclear trashcan punch we all used to drink in college.
Florida State vs. Miami
It really hurts my soul that a Vanilla Ice concert is more interesting than this storied rivalry.
Rutgers vs. Temple
Greg Schiano left Kyle Flood a gold mine, a penthouse and a Bentley on thangs. Goodness….Rutgers has some talent…quality talent!
South Florida vs. Louisville
Yeah…Geno Smith is good, but have you watched Teddy Bridgewater lately?
Texas Tech vs. TCU
Are we playing basketball or football. There is no reason why this score was 56 – 53…absolutely terrible!
Virginia Tech vs. Clemson
Could this be Frank Beamer’s last year or Bud Foster? It should be. Clemson is waiting for FSU to just fuck up so they can cupid shuffle into that ACC Championship game.
Stanford vs. Cal
Stanford has to be able to find a nerd with speed to play WR for them. Aren’t all nerds fast? I mean they get picked on and bullied in HS…where are the nerds with speed??!
*Do I look like I watched Cincy play Toledo or Boise State play UNLV? Come on dogg.*
Iowa State vs. Oklahoma State
So…J.W. Walsh finished the game after hurting his knee in the first quarter? Feel sorry for the kid.
Baylor vs. Texas
See my comment about Texas Tech and TCU and insert that here. Umm…get Manny Diaz all the way the fuck outta here!
NFL
Seahawks vs. 49ers
Defense doesn’t win championships anymore, but it’s going to get the 49ers damn close this year.
Titans vs. Bills
Good God, the Bills must suck or CJ2K might be back.
Browns vs. Colts
Josh Gordon was this week’s Dez Bryant. He had a chance to win his team the game and dropped the pass. SMH….BRICKS!
Packers vs. Rams
The Rams had a chance to win this game late. Jeff Fisher is doing work in the Lou.
Cardinals vs. Vikings
Even though his injury occurred in Week 16, Adrian Peterson has to be the comeback player of the year.
Redskins vs. Giants
RGII is that deal, but damnit if Eli Manning isn’t a modern day John Elway then who the hell is?
Saints vs. Buccaneers
Looks like the Saints might be getting their mojo back.
Cowboys vs. Panthers
Cam Newton is on that bullshit. I’m not going to call him a bust yet, but his rookie year came a bit too easy to him and he’s not working as hard.
Ravens vs. Texans
The Ravens didn’t want any parts of Houston. Is this the beginning of the Ray Lewis effect?
Jaguars vs. Raiders
My Raiders won and life is good.
Jets vs. Patriots
I had no clue the Patriots were one of the youngest teams in the league. They’ve only got 8 players over 30. Meanwhile, you can defend Mark Sanchez all you want but he took two sacks on in regulation and the other in overtime and that eventually cost the Jets the game. If we are going to speak the truth about Cam, we’ve got to speak it about Sanchez as well.
Steelers vs. Bengals
They beat the Bengals with their third string running back. There were a ton of Florida Gators on the field last night. I’m really proud of Vontaze Burfict.
That’s all I got,
